Christmas Gifts and birthday gifts: What is the significance behind it
Gifts are a wonderful way of showing that you care for someone or for showing your appreciation. A gift is a small thing but it’s the thought that counts. Immaterial of their color, creed, religion or culture, people all over the world give and receive gifts in some form or the other. You do not have to be very rich to give gifts. It’s just the idea of doing something special for people who deserve to be appreciated. Most of us wait for our birthdays only because we know we are going to get tons of birthday gifts. Birthdays, Anniversaries and the Holiday Season are the different occasions on which we generally get gifts.
Apart from birthday gifts, the other thing that everyone looks forward to is Christmas Gifts. Right from our childhood we start getting gifts on Christmas day. Seeing those neatly wrapped gifts under the tree just makes you feel so happy. When we were younger we were all told to be good or nice because Santa has a list of names of children who’ve been naughty or nice. There is a famous carol that we all sing. It may seem funny now as grown ups but it is these small traditions that make Christmas Gifts so special.
Today, children follow the same traditions. Christmas is not just about giving gifts but its about sharing the greatest of all Christmas Gifts: love. When you give materialistic things, they may get spoilt or ruined in sometime but love is something that would always last forever. Christmas Gifts also signify sharing and a time of giving. Christmas is a season where you share your happiness and joy with your friends and family. It is the seasons of hope and good cheer. In the olden days people used to exchange a warm hug, as a sign of affection.
This sign of affection was not just to wish each other for Christmas, but also to share the warmth in your heart during the cold winter. Somehow along the line, the hug got replaced with Christmas Gifts. There is nothing wrong with giving Christmas Gifts but at the same time we have to remember the actual reason behind giving gifts. The main purpose of Christmas is to spread the love, joy and cheer. So, go ahead and give gifts but also remember to give them with all the love in your heart.
